Access or fish cut: P.M.
i PA Hastings The Prime Minister (Mrj Muldoon), hinted in Hastings' (last evening that if New (Zealand does not get more ’access for its primary pro-; ducts in Japan, the Government might reduce Japan’s fish quota when it is re-! viewed early next year. Mr Muldoon told a capacity audience of 1350 people that Japan had made concessions for New Zealand; ; which its other trading (partners did not have. But he refused to make these public, at the insistence of the Japanese Government. After detailing the history of the fish-for-beef talks, Mr Muldoon said that “everyone realises that unless thistrade increases it is very | easy for us to reduce rhe [Japanese quota for fish when lit comes up for review."
