Disqualified

Charlie Wood was disqualified from fourth placing in the Christchurch Handicap at Addington Raceway on Saturday on the grounds of pacing in the early part of the race. No Response was promoted to fourth. Steven Stock was examined before the start of the Louisson Handicap. Although the horse appeared to be lame, it was found to be a characteristic of the horse and he was allowed to start. The report from the stipendiary stewards said the horse was observed to race truly and that its future racing would be watched closely. In the same race a hopple shortener on Mighty Gay failed to release and the horse broke after about 600 m. His trainer, George Shand, was told that the horse must race in approved gear. Belmer’s Image broke gear at the start and took no part in the race. He was declared unruly for both standing and mobile start races. His connections were warned that further action would be taken should there be a repetition of his performance. Harry Harrison, the trainer of Aiwa, a candidate for the Intermediate Handicap, was warned to improve the racing manners of his horse.
