Youths charged
PA Dunedin Four youths appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Dunedin yesterday charged with breaking and entering the administration block at the Taieri High School, Mosgiel, on Wednesday. A 16-year-old youth appeared in the Children and
Young Persons Court jointly charged with the other youths. Michael John Harris, aged 17, unemployed, Peter Grayson de Blecourt, aged 17, unemployed, Derek John Pennington, aged 17, unemployed, and Malcolm John McKenzie, aged 18, a labourer, were all remanded without plea until August 21 by Mr J. D. Murray, S.M.
McKenzie and Pennington were each granted bail; de Blecourt ana Harris were remanded in custody. The 16-year-old was remanded without plea until August 25 on bail of $2OO with a similar surety by Mr I. A. Ross, S.M. who imposed a curfew on the youth from 9.30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sergeant M. W. Holmes said further charges will be laid.
The school was damaged by fire early on Wednesday morning.
