Meatmark makes money
Meatmark, Ltd, the trading company set up by the Meat Board in London in February last year to stop a slide In New Zealand lamb prices, has made a pre-tax profit of about $39,000. This was announced by Mr Hilgendorf, yesterday. The result was subject to final audit, he said. “But as it seemed at one stage that we might end up losing a little money, the result is most gratifying,” said Mr Hilgendorf. He said all producers would join him in congratulating and thanking the board’s London staff for a job well done — “a job undertaken in an emergency and in the face of extreme hostility from some sections of the United Kingdom meat trade.”
