Bridge of Remembrance

Sir, — Who are the authorities who take it upon themselves to disfigure our one time beautiful city? This time it is the Bridge of Remembrance, a very sacred spot for thousands of our citizens, where the “flower of our nation” passed over on their way to the war, at the call of their country, many never to return. Why block it up? Surely a bridge is made to be walked over. As it is, it serves no purpose, but becomes an eyesore, and a disgrace to the city. It seems that the present mutilation is not yet complete, but is being carried to further lengths like dog kennels to wit. — Yours, etc., CONSTANCE L. GILBERT. August 14, 1978.
