Since then, Graham Parker and the Rumour have made a highly successful tour of the United States, which attracted a lot of attention in “Rolling Stone”; followed up “Howlin’ Wind” with the equally - brilliant “Heat Treatment” and the live double album. '‘Parkerilla”; and recently played a musical festival in Blackbushe, London, at the invitation of none other than Bob Dylan. A meteoric rise to stardom that could just as
easily turn into a plummet to musical oblivion, were it not for Parker’s consistently - brilliant lyrics, his rough-yet-wistful voice, and the razor-sharp backing of the Rumour. Graham Parker and the Rumour (the group has released a couple of albums of its own, by the way), are performing one concert only in Christchurch. See it, for I feel sure it will be one of the highlights of the year in this musical backwater of New Zealand.
