Mr and Mrs J. A. Sladen (above), of Mount Pleasant, will celebrate their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary next week. They were married in the Linwood Congregational Church on August 22, 1913. The next year they moved to Nelson where Mr Sladen worked as an orchardist, later introducing boysenberry plants to New Zealand. Mr Sladen, aged 93, and Mrs Sladen, aged 89, have two sons and a daughter. Another son was killed in action in the Second World War.
