O’Sullivan a busy actor
Richard O'Sullivan, star of the comedy “Robin’s Nest” on Television One, was born in Chiswick of Irish parents. He attended the Corona Theatrical school and at a very tender age was appearing in such films as “It’s Great to be Young” with John Mills.
He also played the part of Little Lord Fauntleroy and in the television production of “Great Expectations” spent mast of his time sitting because he had broken both legs during filming. He appeared in the film of “Cleopatra” with Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison.
O’Sullivan has appeared in numerous drama pro= ductions including “Thirty Minute Theatre” and “Play of the Month.” Series have included “Doctor at Large” and the follow-on of that, “Doctor in Charge,” when he played the part of Dr Bingham.
He also played the part of Richard in the series and the film version of “Father Dear Father” and in the very successful series “Man About the House” from which his present series “Robin’s Nest” originated. A film of this series has also been made.
In 1974 he played the title role in “The Government Inspector” for Oxford Playhouse. O’Sullivan’s hobbies include watching soccer. He both composes and plays music on the piano and also owns a Hammond organ. He plays golf. In 1975 he starred in an extremely successful tour of “Boeing-Boeing” around the British Isles which succeeded in breaking nine box-office records on the first tour and was consequently taken out. again in the autumn.
He appeared its Buttons in “Cinderella” at the London Palladium during Christmas 1976.
