Few invitations

Christchurch has oeen slow to show its hospitality to crew from the United States Navy cruiser Horne. Late yesterday afternoon only about 15 responses had been received to a local suggestion that Christchurch people offer to have a sailor from the Home as a guest. Some of those who did telephone the Horne yesterday invited crewmen home for dinner, several families volunteered to show them round Christchurch, while others took them ski-ing. The Home, a guidedmissile cruiser, will remain at Lyttelton until Thursday morning. Those who wish to offer hospitality to one or several of her crew should telephone the ship direct, at Lyttelton 8163.
