Montana to sell shops
PA Auckland Montana Wines, Ltd, is negotiating the sale of its “Weinkeller” retail outlets, the chief executive and director (Mr I. G. Stormont) said at a conference to announce a new promotion of the company’s wines. A meeting of shareholders is being arranged for August 31 to seek approval for Montana to make tax-free distributions. The annual meeting is to be held in October and its 1977-78 results will be reported next month. Mr Stormont said that Montana had plans for wider export activity, but this was still about 18 months away. The company, partly owned by Seagrams of Canada, saw potential in the middle to higher priced markets in North America, Britain, Hong Kong, and Singapore, but Montana needed to research the type of labelling needed to conform with regulations.
