Reprimand after first win

The 17-y ear-old Cambridge apprentice Chris Wood was reprimanded before the Canterbury Jockey Club’s judicial committee after he rode the first : winner of his career on Satur-i : day. Wood made a special trip south to ride the stable runner, Innes] Lad, in the Longbeach Handicap. He was able to claim a 4.5 kg allowance and brought the Head! He was also warned that if he repeated such riding tactics he would be facing a more serious charge of careless riding. Princess Hasty was under an|other handicap in the race. She : lost two lengths at the start. [So did Country King, which was attempting a third win for the meeting. He finished fifth.
