School b'ball favourite
Mairehau High School is favoured to win its second Canterbury women’s interclub basketball competition when it meets Mairehau A in a three-match final starting today at Cowles Stadium. The second match will be played tomorrow morning, also at Cowles Stadium. If a third game is required it will be postponed to the end of the season because of representative commitments. If the school team wins it would be an achievement unequalled by any other high-school team. It will also be attempting to win its seventh national schoolgirls’ title later this month. Competition points at the end of round two were:
