Stadium opening planned
When the Pioneer Sports Stadium opens on a weekend in October yet to be named, there will be two days of sports activities. The big stadium in Spreydon’s Centennial Park — built partly to balance facilities available in eastern suburbs of the city — may be used during those first two days for badminton,
i basketball, volleyball, judo, ■ gymnastics, table tennis, in- ! door bowls, trampolining, in- > door soccer and a fencing display. Squash courts will also be ■ open, either for a tourna- ■ ment or free games for the ; public. Periods of exclusive ; use would be set aside for , the community.
