Kerry Clark, ot Dunedin and formerly of 1 Christchurch, came with a late burst to win his second ’ natch on the opening day of 1 he Commonwealth Games competition. Clark, competing in his 1 first Games singles, scored 1 eight shots on the last two! 1 mds to beat Cvril Turner, of I 1 Malawi. 21-13. ’ Earlier in the day an in-|i orm Clark gained a convincing 21-5 victory over i Denis Gosden, of Kenya. < He had a harder battle in the afternoon when he trail- ! ed over the first 10 ends. Turner went to 6-3 and 7-4 before the New Zealander began fighting back. Clark put on some of the most dazzling play of the opening session when he
swamped Gosden in jusf. under two hours. It was a great beginning for Clark who would like to l add a medal to the gold hej won in Christchurch as a; member of the fours.
The Kenyan has never finished lower than seventh in the singles of the last two| Commonwealth Games, and iClark said he was surprised; [to win so easily , Gosden was two up after!
