Soccer Western spills vital point

Western’s chances of winning the Broadlands Southern League soccer title took a blow on Saturday when it was held to a 2-2. draw by New Brighton. The point was an important one for Brighton as it helped ease its relegation worries. Des Duffy and Adrian Kersten •cored for Western while Peter Bennie, from the penalty spot, and John Trowbridge were Brighton’s scorers. Two goals by Malcolm Parker — one a penalty gave Rangers a 2-0 win over North End United in a tough match which Rangers did not dominate to quite the extent it should have done. The points were vital to Rangers however, moving it into first position on the points table.
