Shell spends $35M more
NZPA Melbourne Shell Australia, Ltd. is (o spend a further sAust3sM upgrading its oil refinery at Geelong, Victoria. The company plans to build a crude-oil distillation unit to replace the two units which were commissioned in 1954. Shell has been progressively modifying its Geelong and Clyde (Sydney) refineries to increase its ability to produce lighter, higher-value products from crude-oil. This will become increasingly important as imported Middle East crude takes up a bigger proportion of the oil processed in Australian refineries.
