Canterbury’s three representatives in the national Olympic-classes yachting squad, Peter Leste r ” t de Thier and Steve Moffat, will be competing u» u.e prestigious Helsinki regatta which begins tomorrow (New Zealand time). Lester, in the Finn division, and de Thier and Moffat, partners in a Tornado catamaran, will be able to use the contest as a final preparation for the pre-Oiympic regatta at Tallin later this week. Jonty Farmer (Rotorua) is New Zealand’s other Finn entrant. Also sailing at Helsinki will be the 470 class combination of Murray Jones and Andv Knowles (Wellington). ’They began their European campaign by winning the European championship as a prelude to their world title bid in Swedish waters. After the racing at Tallin —the venue for the Olympic competition in 1980— de Thier and Moffat will travel to England for the world Tornado championship, which starts on September 14.
