NZPA Sydney Renison, Ltd, increased its net earnings 68 per cent to sAustl7.9M in the year to June 30, after sales revenue rose 35 per cent to $49.7M. The 51 per cent-owned subsidiary of Consolidated Goldfields of Australia, Ltd, has raised its dividend rate from 70.2 c a share to 92.5 c a share with the final dividend up from 35.2 c to 50c a share. With last year’s one-for-one scrip issue qualifying for the final payment, the dividend for the year is up 85 per cent from 57.3 M to 813.5 M.
The increase in earnings is a product of both the jump in international tin prices that had its beginnings in the last six months of 197677, and improved production. The company has not disclosed the average price it received for its concentrates during the year, but it is understood to have been around 32 per cent higher than in 1976-77. Renison’s profit for the year was after a virtually steady depreciation charge of $2.9M (S2.BM previously) but taxation was up 58 per cent at 514.3 M.
