'Rural’ jibe again by Waimairi

The Counties Association is too rural-oriented to suit urban counties, according to a Waimairi County councillor, Cr R. W. Skjellerup. He told the council that the association was not doing a good job of representing urban counties, of which Waimairi is New Zealand’s biggest. A letter will be sent to the association expressing dissatisfaction with the way urban matters are being handled. Waimairi withdrew from the association for a year for similar reasons. It rejoined last year when promised that more attention would be given to urban problems.
