U.K. jobless up
The number of unemployed in Britain has risen to over 1.5 million for the first time in five months, according to figures released by the Department of Employment. The total stands at 1,585,811, or 6.6 per cent of the work-force. But the seasonally-adjusted unemployment figures, which exclude school leavers coming on to the job market for the first time, shows the number of jobless rose by only 6000 in the last month to 1,371,300 or 5.7 per cent of the work-force. This is the same percentage as in June. —London.
