NZPA Rock Springs (Wyoming) The head of law enforcement in Rock Springs has been jailed as a suspect in the slaying of a police officer subpoenaed by a .Grand Jury probing corruption allegations. The Rock Springs public safety director, Ed Cantrell, aged 50, was jailed hours after the victim, Michae] Rosa, aged 29, was shot between the eyes with a .38calibre revolver.

The Sweetwater County Coroner, Peter Vase, said Rosa had been gunned down early on Saturday as he sat in an unmarked police car in a parking lot. The County Sheriff, Jim Stark, said Cantrell had been nuestioned and jailed at Green River, Wyoming, 24km west of Rock Springs. Sheriff Stark said charges vere pending.
