Wellington sell-out

“State of Siege” was shown to a patked house on the final night of the Wellington Film Festival on Saturday. Its prospects include a short commercial run in

Auckland and a showing on television, as well as school

and university showings. The film was partly financed by the Film Commission of the Department of

Education "and they are keen for as many people as possible to see it,” the film’s producer, Tim White, said last evening.

i Overseas sales were the i goal, he said. i The president of the Canterbury Film Society (Mr i Morris Askew) is keen to get i the film back in Christchurch.

“We may be talking to Lane Masters (of Masters

Cinemas) next year,” he said. The film might also go on the Film Society circuit next year.

“State of Siege” was the most provocative New Zealand film yet made. Mr Askew said.
