PA Wanganui, The Mayor of Wanganui, Mr Ron Russell, is to help promote Wanganui’s case to have the 1978 Nesv Zealand open golf championships returned to the Wanganui Golf Club’s Belmont course. He is also to head a case to gain television coverage of major sporting events staged tn provincial areas.

Mr Russell told the Thursday meeting he would address the provincial cities conference, be held in Wanganui in November, and the New Zealand Muni clpal Association on the question of TV's lack of live coverage of major sporting events in provincial centres.
