Sponsor sought for port group history
A 100-years history of the Lyttelton Maritime Association is •about to be produced in book form from records compiled by the association’s secretary (Mr D. H. Clibborn). The material has been edited by the Historic Places Trust in Wellington, and is now ready for the printer. Attempts are being made by the trust to get a sponsor for the history. Tenders for the printing will . be called soon, and it is anticiIpated that the finished books j will be available in six to eight i months. A simulated fire brigade exer- ! else will be held at Lyttelton today, based on the crash of a helicopter, with three persons ,on board, into the oil installaj tion areas at the port. The helicopter will have come ’ from a United States Antarctic ■supply ship bunkering at the Oil Wharf nearby. Several 111 calls will bring • two fire appliances from Lyttelton, one from Woolston, and ani other from headquarters. Backup brigade units will come from Sumner. Spreydon, New Brighton and headquarters.
