The incumbent will a so have a small specialised corporate team working in the areas of finance, legal and secretarial, marketing and economic/technical planning It must be emphasised that this is a start up operation with the creation of new relationships among subsidiaries, new policies, new systems and new objectives. The General Manager must be able to play a pivotal role here in accepting both the challenge and burden of these initiatives Furthermore, the appointee must accept that the job will attract public and governmental scrutiny. The position calls for a senior executive of proven ability, preferably accustomed to a group structure, and with significant general management experience. Petrocorp will engage in joint ventures and frequently require governmental Involvement. The successful applicant would need to be an experienced and successful negotiator. An appropriate tertiary qualification Is required. A prior background In the petroleum or similar Industry would be of advantage but is not essential The appointee must be able to assimilate technology in broad terms and effectively lead enterprises with highly specialised staff. GROUP POLICY + PLANNING MANAGER This is a corporate planning role, covering the medium and long terms, with specific responsibility to the General Manager for co-ordinating the Group's Business Plans, providing services in the fields of project feasibility studies and investment appraisals, and directing an economic service unit. He will liaise closely with subsidiaries’ executives and will be involved in multi party negotiations, e g. joint venture agreements Applicants, who must possess an appropriate degree, should have had broad experience in economic and strategy planning within the public or private sectors. Prior association with the petroleum or allied industries would be of advantage but is not a pre requisite. Age is flexible. GROUP FINANCE MANAGER The incumbent will have responsibility to the Genera! Manager for the operational accounting activities of the Group and will initially be concerned with co-ordinating existing systems in the financial and manage* ment accounting areas and providing where necessary new finance and investment policies and procedures tor the group as a whole. Integrated MIS will be required and installed as Petrocorp assumes a more active management role and it is planned that EDP will play an important part in the collection and use of Information. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager will be a Chief Accountant and a Project Accountant. Applicants should be qualified to at least ACA and have performed successfully in a significant finance,-accounting management position, preferably in a group corporate structure. Familarity with EDP applications is essential a,nd the age range flexible. COMPANY SECRETARY The Company Secretary will guide the policies of the Board In terms of legal compliance. Ongoing responsibilities include the recording of formal corporate action, ensuring the safeguarding of records, trade marks, patents, real estate interests, etc., arranging adequate Insurances, coordinating office services, organising presentation of reports from subsidiaries to the parent Board, and providing a range of group administrative services. ...
