Seven-year-old Gerard Marcus became Christchurch’s “newest” New Zealand citizen at a naturalisation ceremony conducted by the Christchurch City Council and the Department of Internal Affairs this week. The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. G. Hay) presented certificates to 52 settlers. The Marcus family were the largest single group. From left they are Mr P. H. Marcus, his wife, Brenda, Peter, Genevieve, Marcelle, and Gerard. The Marcus family came to New Zealand from South Africa more than three years ago.
