Tax change urged
The general wage order announcer! yesterday highlighted the need tor the Government to consider making major changes in its taxation laws, said the director of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (Mr I. D. Howell) last evening. “What is needed.” said Mr Howell, “is a change from direct to indirect taxation. ■The order is only going to make it more and more difficult for Canterbury firms to compere in both local and export markets especially as we are facing high rnergy and transport costs.”
