Clive Currie has not had many goal-kicking opportunities in Christchurch senior rugby, but this did not seem to bother him when he played at full-back for the New Zealand Juniors against Central Queensland at Rockhampton last week. His contribution to the juniors' 84-0 win was a try, 10 conversions and four penalty goals—36 points, which is the fourth highest tally by a New Zealander in a first-class match.

The late Ron Jarden set an All Black record of 38 points in the match against Central West at Parkes, New South Wales, in 1951, and this mark was eventually bettered by Joe Karam, with 41 . points against a luckless South Australia in Adelaide in 1974. The national domestic record of 37 points was established by Jim Graham on the day that Counties put up a "ton” against East Coast in 1972. It is incongruous that Currie has scored only 16 points for his club. Old Boys, this season. In spite of Currie’s North Island status, the side has used Gary Cookson as the No. 1 goal-kicker.
