SIX DAYS OF RAIN I’m quite enjoying the rain. During the week-end scattered rain and glowering skies sent us (my brothers and sisters and me) scurrying inside. For us the dreaded task of weeding the garden was over. Poor Mum! If it weren’t for the rain she’d be kneeling on the drive, knee deep in weeds and still ‘pulling strong.’ (Our garden is a jungle of weeds). Then on Monday it was off to school—head down, well wrapped up, pedalling like fury, to annoy the teachers. Tuesday—more rain—no sport, silent cheers. Early lunch-hour, better and better. An improvement on last Tuesday. Wednesday—running across the court to art, splashing in puddles, getting covered in mud and later paint. Today, Thursday, only Friday then freedom for two whole days. Poor Mum again—bet she’s got visions of muddy floors, cat paw prints on windows and floors, etc., etc. I’m beginning to feel like a duck! Maybe next week will be better. Rachel Best, aged 12.
