Australia’s most powerful union leader, the president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (Mr Bob Hawke) will step down from the presidency of the Australian Labour Party, in spite of pleas from party officials to stand again.; Among the likely candidates' for the post, said party] sources, were John Ducker, ( secretary of the New South Wales Trades and Labour; Council, the A.L.P.
