Lambeth meeting

New Zealand's Anglican Bishops will join others from all over the world to attend the Lambeth Conference to be held in Britain from July 22 to August 13. The Archbishop of Canterbury will be host to the 420 members of the conference, who will meet at the University of Kent, near Canterbury. It will be the first residential Lambeth Conference. Topics for consideration at the conference include the debate on ordination of women. Considerable controversy exists in Britain at present on the issue. The Anglican Church in New Zealand was one of the first to approve ordination of women and New Zealand bishops are expected to figure prominently in discussions.
