The Japanese Minister of Agriculture (Mr Ichiro Naka--awa) said in Tokyo yesterday that the Government would open separate fisherynegotiations with New Zealand and Australia this month

“The Japanese Government will now study concrete measures about importing New Zealand dairy products for aid to developing countries and for use in school lunches here,” said Mr Nakagawa. “We will promote imports of New Zealand pinus radiata if it is found strong enough (as construction material).”
He said that both sides had agreed that Japan would lower its tariffs on squid and other marine products in the course of the so-called Tokyo round of multilateral trade negotiations.
