Sydney engagement

Dobbs Franks, musical director of the Canterbury Orchestra, has been engaged as guest conductor of the Australian Ballet. He will conduct 21 performances at the Sydney Opera House in November. Mr Franks was musical director of the Australian Ballet in 1970 and 1971. He conducted its first American tour with Nureyev as guest artist, and a six-month tour of Australia and New Zealand with Dame Margot Fonteyn. The Sydney engagement will be the first time Mr Franks has conducted for the Australian Ballet since 1971.
