'Prospect of whales’

The Southern Right Whale is a species which is almost extinct. The naturalists Krov and Ann Menuhin (pictured) travelled to the Patagonian coast of South America in search of the beast. This documentary chronicles their trip and provides an opportunity to see many species of wildlife that | converge each year at this .point to produce their litters.

As a climax to the programme a whale is sighted and by an extraordinary chance proves to be a mother with a pure white calf — probably the only white whale of this species in the world. “A Prospect Of Whales” will screen on Television One tonight, late evening.
