Police chief shot dead
i Red Brigades urban guerrillas have claimed responsibility for shooting dead the ‘former chief of Genoa’s antiI terrorist squad in front of [horrified passengers on a crowded bus yesterday. Antonio Esposito, aged 35, 'was killed instantly when I two gunmen pumped at least [lO shots into him as he [stood at the back of the bus, [the police said. He was on his way to work at the ! public security office in [nearby Nervi. [ The two assassins then [jumped off the bus and were picked up by accomplices in a car following behind. Less than two hours after [ the killing, a telephone: caller told a local newspaper:; “Red Brigades speaking. We! executed Antonio Esposito at 8.30 this morning.”
