Police seek vehicle
PA Wellington Wellington detectives seek the occupants of a van seen in the area of the Karantze Restaurant in Wellington, close to the time of the explosion that demolished it early last Sunday morning. Detective senior-sergeant H. M. V. Burgess said that the police would like to speak to anyone in the area at the top of the Cuba Mall between 1.15 a.m. and 1.20 a.m. when the blast occurred. In particular, they wanted to speak to the occupants of a dark-green Austin or Morris panel van, which had a number plate beginning with the letters, EB. The police have not yet established what ignited the escaping gas that was responsible for the explosion.
