Wharf union bead off to Moscow
The president of the Lyttelton Waterside Workers ; Union (Mr R. J. Wasley) will leave tomorrow with the president of the Waterside Workers' Federation (Mr T. Thomson) for Moscow, for a “fraternal ' visit with the Moscow Sea and IRiver Workers’ Union. Mr Wasley said last evening that he expected to be in Moscow by Tuesday, but that the tour itinerary was still uncertain. “However, we expect to be shown over some ports while over there,” he said. Yesterday's item about the loading of leaking drums of deadly pesticide aboard the container ship Nedloyd Houtman has been corrected by the secretary of the Lyttelton Waterfront Workers’ Union (Mr M. E. Foster). The sealing and restowage of the twelve drums of azinphos methyl, an organphosphate which can be fatal if absorbed through 'he skin, was done by Lyttelton watersiders — not local firemen, as stated. The watersiders involved had been trained in the use of compressed air apparatus by the fire brigade, and
some happened to be members of the Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade. ARRIVALS Nedlloyd Clement (7.17 a.m . 6225. Dunedin (Guthreyr Kuaka <«.!» a.mJ, 16.321, Cap< J. Forslind (U.S.Sj.
