Youth soccer squads named
Two squads of Christ* church players have been selected to play in a trial match as part of the lengthy process of choosing the national under-19 soccer team, which will contest the world Youth Cup matches in Auckland later this year.
The trial match will be played at English Park next Wednesday evening. A fur* ther three trials and a weeklong course at Massey University will follow before any of them learn of their possible inclusion. From Wednesday’s trial a Canterbury team will be picked by the southern regional coach (Mr Terry Conley) to play Otago-Southland at Timaru on July 2. The top players will play for the southern region against a central region side in Wellington and for the rest of New Zealand against the northern region later in the month. A squad of 30 will be selected for the coaching clinic
