Marriage “for better or for worse”
L. , — On reading the article on marriage from an address by Ms Fenwick, I was very concerned that many people who consider
themselves to be “enlightened” and are v ery vocal in trying to “enlighten” everyone else appear, in fact, to be entirely ignorant of the basic roots of the problems confronting our society. Ms Fenwick goes to great length to paint the picture of the "patriarchal oppression” that many women suffer. Is she truly ui/aware, or does she simply choose to ignore the fact that there are many women who make equally as
good a job of making their husband’s and children’s lives miserable? If a child bites people,' the solution would not be to eliminate people but to train the child in correct behaviour. Similarly, the solution is not to eliminate the marriage but for people to have their hearts changed by a relationship with Christ. — Yours, etc., (Mrs) M. PALMER. June 13, 1978.
