J The United States dollar !!was mixed against most curJrencies in foreign exchange I markets last week, according ’ to the diary kept by tne . In spite of the remarks by the Secretary of the United | States Treasury on the prospects of an improvement in the United States trade bal- ' ance, the United States dollar was marginally weaker : against the New Zealand dollar. The uncertain economic and political outlook in the United Kingdom caused sterling to weaken in Europe. However, in the New Zealand basket of currencies sterling edged up a little against the New Zealand dollar.
