Lyle wins fight
NZPA-Reuter Denver Heavyweight boxer Ron Lyle, free on bail pending trial for murder, beat Horace “Big City” Robinson of New (York when the referee stopped the fight after the seventh round. The 10-round fight ended when Robinson, - aged 25, a former sparring partner for heavyweight champions Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, could not see out of the left eye which had started to close in the third round. It was the first appear- : ance in the ring for Lyle, ; aged 36, ranked No. 5 as i world contender, since his j arrest on New Year’s Eve in ! connection with the shooting 'of his former sparring part!ner, Vernon Clark. Clark, aged 39, died after ■ being shot in the head and *Lyle is due to appear in 'court on June 12 to enter a iplea to a charge of murder._
