Thompson played part of a club game last Saturday and is hopeful of being fully fit by Monday. However, the selector, Mr Alastair Hopkinson, said last evenig that final decisions on Thompson and Doug Bruce would be made on Sunday. Bruce still has the stitches he had inserted in Brisbane but the gash in his cheek is healing well and he believes he could be ready to play again by Monday. The Country team is:— Murray Cameron, Stewart Bray, Andy Jefferd, Chris Rusbridge, Andrew Munro, Bruce, John Munro, Alex Wyllie, Don Hayes, Graeme Higginson, Bruce Farmer, Barney Henderson, John Ashworth, Hugh Taylor, Thompson. The side contains nine changes from the XV that was beaten yesterday by Canterbury Maoris, six of them being in the forwards. The only two forwards retained are the flankers, Hayes and Henderson.
