Garner strikes it rich
James Gamer (left), an oil-field worker in some of his pre-acting years, finds himself on familiar stomping grounds in SPTV’s Movie of the Week, “The Wheeler Dealers,” tonight. L. “The Wheeler Dealers” tonight he is a wealthy Texan blessed with the Midas Touch, visiting New York to raise ready cash for drilling an oil well. While there he meets up with Lee Remick, a pretty stock analyst, and proves that when he is in town anything can happen. Also appearing are Jim Backus, the voice behind Mr Magoo cartoons and Phil Harris, self-described as “brash, illiterate me,” who for many years had a comic role in Jack Benny’s radio programmes.
