Market firm for opossum skins

The offering at the seventh : opossum skin sale held by Dalgety New Zealand, Ltd, in Dunedin was 194,144 skins. It consisted of 43.57 per cent late winter-caught skins which had been kept in cool storage, and 56.43 per cent early-caught skins. Most of the winter skins were similar to those offered in the March sale. Tlie market was firm compared with the March sale and bidding from the full bench of I buyers was widespread.
, Some ferret skins were offered i too, realising $2 for first-quality I large skins. $1 for medium and 125 c for second quality. A small offering of South : Island wallaby skins realised ! 35.5.
The top price for opossum skins was $13.75, compared with j 313.45 in March. The average price for better : grades in the winter-eaught offering was $6.47, a drop on : the March average of $6.91. The ! over-all winter-caught average ; was lower than the March figure,
$3.91, compared with $4.14. The average price for better grades in the early-caught offering was $4.59 and the over-all average $3.43. The over-all sale average was $3.64. The next sale will be on July 13. Early-caught Large: red brown, $11.85, $7.96, $4.52; dark brown. $12.55, $8.13, 54.56; red neck, $6.95, 54.20, $2.92; light, 57.10, $4.38. $2.92.
