Spectacular accident
A twisted jumble of metal was all that remained of a car after a spectacular accident at the intersection of) ; Waltham Road and Shakei speare Road late last even ! ing. i Two occupants of the ■wrecked car were extricated' ‘ bv firemen and taken to hospital by ambulance. They suffered only minor injuries. Traffic officers late last evening were still trying to) find a third person who had been in the car and had left the scene. The occupants of a second car involved in the accident! were shaken but not hurt. Their car was severely damaged in front. The wrecked vehicle had! careered across the inter-I section ripping out trafficlights before it bounced off a shop window. It ended roof up with one of its wheels and axle ripped out under the partly demolished shop veranda. Traffic travelling along Waltham Road was diverted from the blockage. A large crowd stopped to watch firemen work to free the injured, and had to be moved back by policemen.
