ENGINEERING OFFICER (MACHINERY) HEAD OFFICE THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR is seeking the services of an Engineering Officer who will be based in Wellington. QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: The successful applicant will be the holder of NZCE (Mechanical) or have substantially completed the study towards this qualification. DUTIES: The work involves the preparation of machinery drawings, research into and development of machinery guarding and safety systems. A practical knowledge of a wide range of industrial production machinery is desirable. The appointee will be assisting a small team of mechanical engineers in advising the factory inspectorate on machine guarding problems and may be called upon to travel throughout New Zealand as necessary. Ability to meet and deal confidently with people at Management level, to give lectures on machinery safety matters and to prepare clear and logical reports on work undertaken is also important and initial training will be given as necessary.
