Fashion Comet unbeatable?

BOB SCHUMACHER
Fashion Comet seems certain to join an illustrious list of winners of the Robinson Rose Bowl greyhound classic ai Queen Elizabeth II Park tills afternoon. The Planet—Tiny Nymph fawn dog has been placed in every start on the track this year, having the impressive record of five wins, two seconds and four thirds. Both his seconds were to the champion Smoky Hobbs and he was only a length behind that longtail when he shattered the track record over 590 m earlier this month. With Smoky Hobbs still on the injured list, the way seems clear for Fashion Comet to embellish, his already excellent record in the feature event over 590 m. It Will be a major upset if he is beaten. As always in all age races, there were several surprises in the heats and some lower graded freyhounds have made the final, ixty-three dogs ran in the eight heats, only the winners qualify. I ing for the Rose Bowl. In winning his heat. Fashion i Comet eliminated some strong . candidates including last year’s | winner, Man-O-War. and Signor I Caruso. Other Open class ! dogs to win their heats were Trusty Hobbs, Bright Byrne I and Noble Wave, and that trio should contest the minor placI ings. I The puppy sprint has the I Mayor’s Cup winner, Ross Rual, I matched against the speedy I Methven’s Pride, but both might 1 be tested by Sarkhan Sal, a bril-
Uant winner of her qualifying trial. She is from the 1976 New Zealand champion. Sally Havoc. Fields are:--Maiden 350 m (1.30 p.m.).—Slitrig Dancer. Nightly Flash. Main Competitor, OaKville Flash.
