Firestone N.Z. earnings fall
The unaudited group net profit of Firestone N.Z., Ltd, fell 6.1 per cent to $1,004,298 in the six months to April 30. Although there is some decline in business activity, the directors expect to maintain the reported level of earnings in the final six months to October 31. The group net trading profit fell $3538, or 0.3 per cent, to $1,021,463, before the deduction of a provisional exchange loss of $17,165 i ($45,016 gain previously) resulting from exchange rate ! fluctuations during the period. No adjustment has been made in the latest result for the 5 per cent tax relief on stock values.
The profit was after providing $103,190 more for depreciation at $605,109, but $41,635 less for tax at $797,002.
