Students slip in basketball tussle

Mairehau managed a 63-55 win against a determined University, in the seventh round of the women’s A grade basketball competition at Cowles Stadium on Saturday. Viv Howard was sound on at tack for the victor and totalled 18 points, but University played with vigour and some fine agility enabled the students to intercept several passes. With Adriana Beukenholdt scoring for University several times in a row her team was in front at half-time, 30-28. In the second half Mairehau's experience came to the fore and quick ball handling made for quite an easy win. Checkers had a very comfortable 88-48 win against Rebels, thanks largely to Robyn North 1

who scored a remarkable 39 ; points. Checkers was well ahead, 47-22. at half-time.
