Commission chairman
PA Wellington. The new chairman of the National Housing Commission is the Deputy Mayor of Wellington (Mr ’. W. Lawrence).
The chairman of the commission for the last two years (Mr W. G. Butler) has been reappointed as a member. Professor J. W. Williams, a former professor of economics at Otago University, and Mrs P. A. Jefferies, a chartered accountant, have also been appointed to the commission under the National Housing Commission Amendment Act, which was passed by Parliament last year.
The act allows for two additional members to be appointed to the commission to represent a wider cross-section of the community.
